Personal Day

The proprietor will be back tomorrow, one way or the other.

In the meantime, contemplate:

Moths in Berkeley. Along with the usual bats in the belfry.

Global warming could speed up Earth’s rotation. By .12 milliseconds in the next two centuries. We’ll have that much less time every day for “Seinfeld” reruns.

Born on this date: Dabbs Greer, actor. “He played the first person saved by Superman in the very first episode. …”

Also: Emile Zola, writer: “If I cannot overwhelm with my quality, I will overwhelm with my quantity.”

  1. I always liked Dabs Greer especially the name. He was one of those character actors that showed up in every 60s TV show I ever watched. I last saw him in “The Green Mile” evidently still going strong. It’s nice to know he’s still around.

  2. em, my hat’s off to you. I mean, you know who Dabbs Greer is. To be honest, the name meant nothing to me beyond the wonderful sound of it. So I just looked up an image of Mr. Greer. Amazing. I must have seen him scores, if not hundreds, of times; prime-time television would have been impossibe without him. I had no idea what his name was, though.

  5. Unfortunately Dabs Greer passed away Saturday night 28 April, 2007. He was 90 years old and had kidney problems.
